Haden Rider

(Co-Founder/Artistic Director /Residential Music Director) 
 

Haden graduated with a BA Theatre degree from the University of North

Georgia/Brenau University in the Gainesville Theatre Alliance training program. As of late, he has been working as a professional actor and voice teacher/coach in the Atlanta regional theatre market. 

 

Atlanta Regional credits include: 

The Hunchback of Notre Dame- Quasimodo [Suzi Bass Award, Outstanding Lead Actor- Musical] (Aurora/Theatrical Outfit), Billy Elliot- Tony Elliot (City Springs Theatre), Aida- Radames (Atlanta Lyric), Jesus Christ Superstar- Jesus (Atlanta Lyric); Next To Normal- Gabe Goodman (WBTC), Parade- Tom Watson (WBTC), The Thing About Men- Sebastian (WBTC).

 

He is also a Literary AAA State Champion (2010) for Dramatic Interpretation. However, he also has a passion for children's theatre and all of the joy that it brings; not only for the kids who perform, but for the chance to invest his love of the art form into the hearts and minds of young talented individuals. Following this passion to teach young artists, Haden is a recipient of the Junior Theatre Festival Teacher Spirit Award (which he shares with his co-founder of Play On Players: Carly Ann Berg) as well as a proud member of the Freddie G. Fellowship. 

Past directing/music directing credits include: Godspell Jr, Once On This Island Jr, Mary Poppins Jr, Madagascar Jr, Guys & Dolls Jr, West Side Story (High School Edition), Elf Jr, Little Mermaid Jr, Seussical Jr, and Honk Jr.

Carly Ann Berg
(Co-Founder/Artistic Director /Residential Choreographer) 

Carly holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Brenau University/Gainesville Theatre Alliance. She is so very proud of Play On Players' accomplishments and absolutely loves working with the amazing student “Poppers”! P.O.P. has won multiple Outstanding Production awards at the annual Junior Theatre Festival and the National Performing Arts Festival. Carly and her co-founder, Haden Rider, were honored with the Broadway Junior Teacher Spirit Award at the 2016 Junior Theater Festival. They are thrilled to be members of the Freddie G. Fellowship. Carly is also the Theatre Director and Choreographer at Lambert High School in Suwanee, Georgia and is proud of her students' success! They won the 2018 Georgia high school 7A state championship in one-act competition with "Fiddler on the Roof". Carly is a recipient of the Shuler Hensley best Georgia high school choreographer award in 2017, and again in 2019 (along with her assistant student choreographers). Carly and her students also won the 2019 Shuler Hensley Best Overall Production and Best Ensemble awards for "Newsies". Carly has a strong passion for children's theatre and finds working with students of all ages to be personally rewarding. She strives to be an excellent role model and enjoys helping actors with different skill levels build their self-confidence and talents on stage. Carly's educational goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of students through the teaching of theatre arts.

Heidi Rider 

(Petite POPper Director/ Residential Stage Manager

 

Heidi is a Gainesville Theatre Alliance and Brenau University Alumni. She has worked as an actor, stage manager, director and educator for the past six years. She is proud to say that she has been working with Play On Players since it’s creation. First as an actor, then as a stage manager, and finally as a director and educator. She has now taken over as a director for

Play On Players’ middle school and under group: the Petite POPers. She was first on the production team as the music director for the Petite Poppers’ production of A Year with Frog and Toad. They then went on to win “Excellence in Music” at the 2015 Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta where they went on to win many other awards including: “Outstanding Production (2017),” “Excellence in Ensemble (2018)” and “Excellence in Dance (2019).” She firmly believes and teaches the value of respect and holds it above all else in not only the theatre world, but everywhere. Respect is the foundation on which true art and success can be built.
